Durante un evento tenutosi a Nagoya, è stato annunciato che Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Timeè entrato in fase gold; lo sviluppo del titolo è quindi stato completato.
È stato inoltre pubblicato un nuovo video gameplay dedicato come sempre ad alcune caratteristiche del titolo sia per 3DS che per PlayStation 4. Square Enix ha inoltre rivelato la terza regola obbligatoria all’interno della modalità “Restricted Play”: dopo l’impossibilità di acquistare oggetti e fuggire dalla battaglia, i personaggi giocabili non potranno indossare alcuna armatura.
