Square Enix ha rivelato le sue intenzioni, ovvero espandere Eidos Montreal e Square Enix Montreal nel 2019. Attualmente, circa 700 persone lavorano in Eidos Montreal e Square Enix Montreal, e oggi Square Enix ha dichiarato di voler aggiungere 100 nuovi posti di lavoro in entrambi i suddetti studi e ampliare il proprio spazio ufficio.
Pare che in programma ci sia l’intenzione di aggiungere in questa espansione uno studio di motion capture, studio di fotogrammetria, laboratorio di ricerca utenti e uno studio per la registrazione vocale e sound mixing. Questi dovrebbero aiutare lo sviluppo di Eidos Montreal. Lo scorso settembre, hanno pubblicato Shadow of the Tomb Raider e stanno attualmente supportando anche il progetto Avengers di Crystal Dynamics.
Nel frattempo, Square Enix ha espresso l’intenzione di continuare a investire in Square Enix Montreal. Lo studio mobile non ha rilasciato ancora un nuovo titolo a causa delle scarse prestazioni dei titoli premium per dispositivi mobile, ma gli annunci di lavoro suggeriscono che il team stia ancora lavorando su dei giochi nuovi di zecca.
Visto l’interesse in Square Enix nel “rafforzare” sia Eidos Montreal che Square Enix Montreal, sembrerebbe proprio che abbiano dei progetti interessanti per il futuro. Nel frattempo attenderemo la loro conferenza stampa E3 2019.
