Sony ha annunciato oggi tramite un comunicato stampa che Sony Computer Entertainment e Sony Network Entertainment si fonderanno per dare origine ad una singola azienda chiamata Sony Interactive Entertainment, la sede avrà luogo presso il comando centrale Sony Computer Entertainment di San Mateo, in California. Saranno, inoltre, mantenute le operazioni a Tokyo e Londra.
La nuova compagnia inizierà ufficialmente le sue attività il primo di aprile, all’inizio del nuovo anno fiscale. Andrew House (che prenderà il ruolo di amministratore delegato) ha fatto sapere con un messaggio:

(SCE) and Sony Network Entertainment International LLC (SNEI) announced the formation of Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE), a new company that joins the forces of all business units belonging to SCE and SNEI, including hardware, software, content and network services operations. SIE will be headquartered in San Mateo, California, the United States, while also establishing key global business operations in Tokyo and London, beginning Friday, April 1, 2016.
