Sia il team di sviluppo, che i giocatori della NBA 2K20 hanno trovato modo di rendere omaggio alla defunta icona del basket Kobe Bryant.
È stata una giornata cupa nel mondo del basket, perché lo sport ha perso una delle sue più grandi stelle. Kobe Bryant e sua figlia Gianna Bryant, 13 anni, erano tra le diverse persone che sono morte in un incidente in elicottero domenica mattina a Calabasasas, California. Bryant aveva 41 anni.
La notizia, come un onda d’urto, ha travolto oltre l’NBA; anche milioni di persone in tutto il mondo hanno pianto insieme la morte di un atleta che capita una volta nella vita. Tributi da parte di colleghi atleti e allenatori, celebrità, e fan, sia giovani che anziani, non sono tardati ad arrivare.
Tra questi, il team di sviluppo di NBA 2K20 (il gioco più venduto del 2019) e anche i gamers appassionati del gioco stesso, che hanno trovato un modo unico per rendere omaggio. Il gioco è già stato aggiornato in modo che i giocatori vedranno una schermata pop-up che rende onore a Bryant al momento dell’avvio. La stessa immagine può essere vista anche sui cartelloni pubblicitari di tutto l’hub online MyPlayer di NBA 2K20, “The Neighborhood“. I giocatori, nel frattempo, sono stati visti radunarsi nel Neighborhood, mentre marciavano insieme.
Nato a Philadelphia, e arruolato nell’NBA direttamente dalla Lower Merion High School, Bryant ha avuto una carriera professionale lunga 20 anni (tutti con i Lakers), dove si è affermato come uno dei più grandi giocatori di basket di sempre. Non è un segreto che la serie NBA 2K sia stata a lungo fan della leggenda dei Lakers. E’ stato la star di copertina del gioco per la sua edizione 2K10. Poi, dopo il suo ritiro nella stagione 2015-16, la 2K Sports ha reso omaggio all’incredibile corsa di Bryant rimettendolo in prima linea per la Legend Edition di NBA 2K17.
La modalità MyCareer di NBA 2K17 presentava anche un toccante video introduttivo che vedeva protagonista l’attore Michael B. Jordan accanto al cinque volte campione NBA.
