Yesterday, March 9, we went to Milan for a special event about Lego Worlds. The new title by TTGames will launch today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We had a little interview with Chris Rose, TTGames’ associate producer about the game and his development. You can read it below.
Tell us how the Lego Worlds idea was born.
We started with LEGO Indiana Jones 2. We made some parts of the game; at the time, we began to think about putting more creativity in our game. We like what we did, we want to do it again but we had to wait for technology to catch up with what we want to do. We stayed still for some years, waiting for PCs that were as powerful as we wanted, then went to the Head of TTGames and told them we were ready for a new game.
In LEGO Worlds there are local and online multiplayer; will players be able to join anyone anytime or they need to reach a certain point in the story?
You can play online or local anytime. Even in the first land, you can
drop-in someone in local or invite another player online.
About the story, is there a line to follow?
There is not a real story; however, you can try to face the Master Builder Challenges.
During the presentation you told us there are many easter eggs in LEGO Worlds, although they’re not from the most famous Hollywood IPs; what kind of Easter Eggs? Is there something like a Chase McCain Cammeo?
No. It’s too early, I can’t tell a lot of them. But I can tell you one: it is from the 90s, the rocket spaceship is an easter egg from a very old game we made a long long time ago.
LEGO Dimensions was a huge success, I’m a big fan of the concept, and LEGO worlds seems extremely similar but different in a way. What are the reasons for choosing Worlds over Dimensions?
Creativity is the biggest difference. Creativity guides you to more stories and more choices. Obviously in LEGO Dimension you have more features in characters and vehicles, so the real thing is:
do you want a big story game? Your choice is LEGO Dimensions. Do you want to use your creativity without limits? So you need to pick up LEGO Worlds. Of course the two games have a lot of TT mechanics in common, animations, movement, graphics.
So it is right to say that, if I want to create my own story, I have to choose LEGO Worlds, isn’t it?
Yes, if you want your own adventure, then LEGO Worlds is for you; if you want to mix many franchises in a big story, pick up LEGO Dimensions; but if you want a story from a single franchise like Star Wars, or Avengers, we have that too. We have your back covered whichever your choice is.
Thank you for your time!
You’re welcome!
